Speed of Crude Swing?
Well, skills are starting to get too expensive for my funds, due to some bad choices early on, so I was wondering if someone knew how fast the Crude Swing attacks are against the adjacent foes? If it's as slow as your normal Hammer attack speed, well, that armor -40 would hurt more than the immobility caused by using Healing Signet...

Attack skills without an activation time use your weapon's attack rate.
Using this with Frenzy would be dangerous, but try it after Earthshaker and everything around you will be knocked down.
Have a look here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10228729

It has no activation time, it's the speed of a regular attack.

In other words, avoid Crude Swing like the plague, at least for a looong while.

Use with an IAS to shorten the duration of the penalty, or make sure enemy is knocked down and not damaging you while you use the skill. There are plenty of builds that use this skill, it aint all bad.

Protective spirit/spirit bond > -40 armor.

Flail is good on a hammer bar because that 33% slower movement doesn't matter when the enemy can't move.
Same deal with Crude Swing, you Earth Shaker first because a KDed enemy can't hurt you (yes I know there are exceptions like Ripostes or whatever but that ignores armor anyway).

Give me the rest of the build and I'll add it. I just took a look at the hammer build I've got in there and it's fairly crap, tbh I don't know why I even put it in.

For the people saying Earthshaker --> Crude --> Whirlwind...
Would it not be better to go ES --> Whirlwind --> Crude instead?
So, liek, Crude can charge WW?

You should go 12 Axe and 12 Hammer so you can weapon switch between Cyclone Axe and Crude Swing. Also go /Me and get Triple Chop from a friend!
Then it doesn't matter about the adrenaline!

Well, found a white dye so temporarily have a bit of money. Bought Crude Swing and tested it out - seems it does its attacks against the adjacent monsters simultaneously, with the speed of a single Hammer swing (and not attacking each creature at the regular hammer speed).
So I think this is going into my regular bar.
Now the question is: Will I be observant enough to spot when I have Empathy on me before using Crude Swing? :P

doesn't matter. Crude swing is still just one attack, pretty much as if you were using a scythe. Game mechanics related to attacking will work the same way.

This is true in the case of 'on attack' hexes. For 'on hit' hexes, they'll trigger on each thing you hit.

Ah, counts as a single attack regardless of how many foes it tries to hit? *whew* Empathy scares me. :P

Empathy is really nothing to fear, now [skill]Insidious Parasite[/skill] can really be a nasty pain that is only out done by [skill]Spiteful Spirit[/skill] + [skill]Price of Failure[/skill]
That little combo may be the absolute worst nightmare to any melee char, especially if your with a monk that believes all hexes can be ignored.

Also blind when having price of failure on really hurts, when doing lots of attacks.
I was in RA as a necro using price of failure, and had a blindbot ele. a 100blades war did like 350damage to himself with frenzy up at the time... lolz
